Top Reasons to Shop Early this Holiday Season

Make gifting easier on yourself this year by starting your shopping early.  According to Dentsu Navigator Holiday Shopping Report, 42% of shoppers plan to start earlier in October & November.  That's more people than ever before starting earlier than ever before.  The National Retail Federation, NFR writes, "61% of shoppers started early in 2021 and predict it will be higher in 2022".  What does that mean?  It means the competition for early birds has ramped up!

With continued supply chain issues, lack of inventory, limited supply, labour shortages, storm disruption, rising inflation, budgeting struggles and rising prices, your best course of action is to make a plan and start early.

By starting early, you'll have access to the best selection, be able to spread out payments, budget your spending over the coming weeks and save money by accessing early sales.  By putting off the inevitable, last minute shopping will cost more as stock declines and supply & demand drives fewer sales.

Many marketers are providing early sales, with some retailers starting in October.  Have you been to a mall lately?  Christmas is taking over Halloween!  Retailers learned through the pandemic the need to get merchandise in early to avoid supply chain issues and have a successful holiday selling season.  Many retailers will extend their return window, making it easier for buyers to commit to an early purchase.

So, by making a plan and starting your holiday shopping early, you'll be able to put your feet up and relax with a holiday cookie you had time to bake!

  • I love Christmas, but I really like to wait until after Remembrance Day before I start thinking about it. That still gives 6 weeks until the big day! I do like that some retailers will extend their return window for Christmas purchases. That’s good to know. Thanks for the information, Kerri-Lee.
